This week has been extremely philanthropic around Oregon Alpha’s physical plant. We put on our annual ‘Sweethearts’ philanthropy and with the help of Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, Alpha Gamma Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, Sigma Kappa, and Alpha Phi, we were able to raise over seven thousand dollars!
Unfortunately, last term we had a brother, Isaiah Coste, get diagnosed with cancer. He’s a very talented person and is a friend to all. We were fortunate enough to be able to donate part of the money that we raised to help support Isaiah and his family. The rest of the money raised was given to COI or Community Outreach Incorporated.
COI is a local non-profit geared around making people’s lives better. Especially those who are less fortunate. Some of their acts of generosity include childcare and medical care. For the children who have grown up in poverty, COI helps out by providing more appropriate housing opportunities as well as funding. They are also able to help people who lack medical care to see doctors and get healthy when in need. It is a great cause and we feel so thankful that we were able to help out!
The winner of the philanthropy and the SigEp Sweetheart of 2020 was Kappa Alpha Theta’s, Emily McKillip! She performed extremely well at the pageant Thursday night, as well as competing aggressively in the dodgeball tournament on Tuesday night. Congratulations to Emily along with all of the Theta’s!
