Oregon Alpha recently attended the bi-annual 56th Grand Chapter Conclave in Houston Texas where we were awarded our 8th straight Buchanan Most Outstanding Chapter Award. The award marks our 25th Buchanan Cup and our fourth straight Gold Buchanan Cup received further continuing Oregon Alpha’s legacy of success. The status of a Gold Buchanan Cup is awarded to chapters who have received the award for 5 or more straight Conclaves. This means that for 16 years, Oregon Alpha has been recognized as the premier representation of what it means to be a SigEp. The award was given based on our outstanding academic endeavors, commitment to building balanced men, and preservation of a large fraternity while shifting to a substance-free house. President Logan Munson, VP of Communications Bennett Delong and sponsored Freshman Dalton Lundry traveled to Houston to accept the award. The members voted on important national legislation as well as participating in educational tracts aimed toward progressing their leadership and chapter management skills. The members report that the trip was above and beyond their expectations. They met with brothers from all walks of life from across the country which led to a deeper appreciation of what it means to be a member of such an outstanding national organization that cares so deeply about their brothers. Conclave highlighted the extraordinary tales of brothers committing their life to their passions and to their fraternity. For the members that attended it was truly an outstanding trip that has motivated and changed the views of what it truly means to be a SigEp.
